On Friday evening Petra and Felix watch The Big Sleep
They’re so enthralled they utter not a peep.
For supper they ate meatloaf and mashed potatoes
They added a side of fried green tomatoes
Tomorrow they must set the treadmill to steep

Petra buys a still life of peonies lace
avocados and pears
And of Intel stock she purchases eighty shares
She goes clothes shopping
The Couch Street Mall is really hopping
There’s one whole shop devoted to stuffed cute cuddly bears

Petra and Felix have a Border Collie named Dora
On Felix’s birthday she wears his vintage fedora
Every Thursday Dora participates in agility
This for her is a special ability
One time she got into Petra’s Cremora

Petra has a collection of velvet dresses
Some are cognac in color and match her gorgeous tresses
She also has a jewel box full of pendants
All of which she’ll leave to her descendants
Along with her three antique printing presses
