Some Vibes

Pink pearl necklace, a cranberry velvet couch,

           Reading Balzac, Berlioz plays, thunder

                  And lightning. Gray tabby purrs.

*

A countryside cabin, rain on its roof, a fire in the fireplace, reading Kawabata. Vermeer’s View of Delft painting, a pewter pitcher of Calvados.

*

A room painted Matisse blue, a vintage pine table, a blue fountain pen waits.

Reading Hawthorne, a raucous raven peers in, a book of Poe’s poems.

*

A little attic space, midnight candlelight, a blue silk robe, reading Yeats,

And a silver vase of lobelia.

*

Giant snowdrifts outside, warmth inside, with a fire in the fireplace, a white mansard mansion,

                          Reading Dickens,

                          A pink organza dress

*

A maybe haunted library, an orange velvet wingback chair, reading Sayers …

An ivory cashmere sweater, Ravel plays on

             Vinyl.

*

An ivory silk blouse, black patent leather mary janes, and a black onyx necklace.

Reading Flaubert, an antique map of France, scent of sandalwood.

                      A black cat snoozes

Delineation

Beach and sea

Delineation

Line in sand

Tide and foam

Boundary which moves

           Toes cross border

              Feel cold whole bodies

           Salt water welcomes

Sun, minerals, tears washed away

   Surfers ride

It’s getting dark

Waves invisible, the castles, lights out

*

Clouds in sky

Delineation

Blue, endless, a Cumulus door

Its entry moves, changes shape

         Ethereal white home –

But whose?

          A star’s daytime hideaway

     The moon keeps watch

Night is when inhabitants make

       Mischief.

Surf within the

                Constellations

Signs of water – Cancer, Aquarius, Pisces

       Leo awaits the Sun.

Feline impatience – He prefers heat, fire.

Nimbus nighttime

Respite for Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Capricorn.

Sleep by starlight

Under Venus’s watchful eyes.

             House of Sky is grand

There’s        room        for         all

*

Morning, wind is made

Windows, doors close

Water signs

             Crave sleep.

In dreams more borders crossed

               Delineation, blurred.

Universe keeps Time.   Clouds make shelter.

                       All the Tomorrows.

Misbehaving Houseware – a Rhyme

Roses whisper in Chloe’s ears

They tell her that her rent is in arrears

She just found out her magic garden speaks

Her tomatoes are gossipy and so are her leeks

*

Her spoons add gin to Chloe’s tea

She’d rather have prosecco – can’t they see?

She’s incredulous that her silverware can plot

So what about her favorite copper pot?

*

Her copper pot can talk indeed

And on Wednesday she caught it smoking  weed

Her boyfriend understands and knows Chloe’s sane

Sometimes he hears the cussing wolf’s bane

*

Worst of all are the sneering crocus

They’re full of scheming magic and bad hocus pocus

Why does Chloe have such misbehaving plants?

They’re cattiest of all to neighbor Ida Krantz

*

And why do her pots and silverware act crazy?

She just doesn’t get it and wishes they were lazy

She wants to donate her ware to a thrift shop

But they might escape and down the street they’d hop

*

It would truly be a totally bizarre sight

And it wouldn’t happen at night but in broad daylight

And what of her ill mannered garden blooms?

They can’t merely be swept away by brooms

*

She admits she loved watching them grow

And one always reaps whatever one sows

Why did they grow up to be so bad?

She weeded and loved them – it’s so very sad

*

Today her copper pot said I’m sorry

Don’t call the cops and I won’t be their quarry

I promise I’ll never smoke again

Only if ever in me – you cook a hen

*

In the end Chloe decides she loves her home

And everything in it – she’ll never roam

Even if her flowers are bad now and then

Perhaps she’ll write a novel with her favorite quill pen

Not Realistic – A Rhyme

Amanda dreams of a vacation to Fargo

Though it would make more sense to visit Key Largo

Fargo’s closer and makes more sense

And an island would be much more of an expense

She wants to take her pup and cat with her

The rental’s interior should match their fur

‘Cause it’ll be deep on the seats if they ride too far

For the pet supplies and luggage they’ll need a big car

When Amanda was young she drove a Pacer

And she drank Patron with a Miller Lite chaser

At forty four she drinks no more

She drives an El Camino – she loves its lore

These days Amanda drinks totally tea

But she’s quite man crazy – it’s a sight to see

Her animals watch closely over her

They’re both well behaved – no trouble do they stir

Once in awhile – Amanda solves a mystery

She really enjoys if it involves medieval history

She goes out Friday nights with her bff Molly

They never run into their nemesis Cassie Hawley

Cassie is married to Amanda’s ex Lloyd

Molly’s in love with Cassie’s ex Boyd

No one can keep the love triangles straight

There’s just so very much gossip of late

No vacay for Amanda – she’ll just stay home

In her garden she’ll spread bark dust and loam

Anyway there was a murder in town last week

The bffs will investigate – they’re anything but meek

They won’t tell the cops – they’ll do it on their own

They’ve solved three mysteries – their ability they’ve shown

This town is small – but it’s anything but cozy

The glasses are dark – not at all rosy

They’ll sneak to the crime scene after midnight

Like Velma they need glasses to better their eyesight

This is fiction and not realistic

It’s more like Scooby Doo and very simplistic

Amanda and Molly are cozy mystery writers

The books have many recipes and are not nail biters

This time they’re having trouble with the formulaic plot

Time will tell if they can make their deadline or not

End (For Now)

Lots and lots of pink! (Photo Mine).  🙂

A Rhyming Fiction

A light snow squall on a bright sunny day

A red cashmere sweater – happy holidays you say

An antique emerald brooch worn as a pendant

Its provenance and beauty are truly transcendent

To the Inn At Spanish Head for a room with a view

A party for Christmas revelers who are more than a few

Attended by a writer of fabulist fiction

This novelist’s an historian who’s a public speaker with great diction

Janine’s home from the festivities and has time to read

For time with books she has much greed

Her latest good read is Howard’s End

Completion of her own book is around the next bend

She’s writing about a house that goes into space

It’s the only spaceship that has curtains of lace

It’s hoped the Cape Cod will make it to the moon

It’ll either take a year or happen very soon

Janine’s having trouble coming up with an ending

So she knows she’ll really not soon be sending

The final draft is taking too long

One character’s dialogue has gone very wrong

In her tale there’s no role for a cat

No animals at all – not a dog – a rabbit and certainly no bat

It bothers Janine to have no animals at all

Her publisher is demanding a scary haunted doll

Janine’s finally finished and celebrates with wine

She and hubby James – on oysters they dine

They then watch Vertigo with their sweet kitty

Irene

On James’ lap sits their giant Newfoundland Eugene

Eventually Janine’s novel is optioned for a film

The lead will be played by Dame Wilma Tilm

Room was found in the script for a kitty

It’s a sci-fi movie  – the cat talks and he’s witty

Waiting and Patience

One morning,

    On a small pond, gentle

Ripples –

A female mallard,

Who wears the tiniest pearl necklace

Ever

Seen

On a desk, a tiny yellow origami bird

            Who wants to be real

             Who wants to fly

On the sidewalk, a little girl with chestnut

Curls, in a bright red raincoat

Jumps one puddle

Crushes

The next.

She is fierce.

Her terrier walks with her,

Splashes with her.

Possibly, muddy footprints on carpet.

Possibly,

A little annoyed, but also amused

Parents.

Awaiting her person’s

Has ink to spend

Stories to help make.

She whispers,

Come, I’m over here. Not so patient.

On an antique maple

Upstairs in a wardrobe,

             To be worn.

In a dining room,

              A cassoulet waits

              To be served.

And what of the grandfather clock?

It waits to be seen, wound,

                 To chime the hours.

    So much waiting.. and waiting.

              Wait!

Ten Micros

Four candles lighted, notebook open – blank pages await words, a tiny sterling turtle charm,

A fountain pen with sapphire ink, filled

Romantasy?

On the local evening news a leopard was interviewed

With oodles of charisma his answers were imbued

He talked about his just released romantasy

The primary couple is Justin and Jessi-Sue Cassie

They go from rivals to lovers in an island family feud

*

He was asked if it’s difficult for a leopard to write

He said why would it be I’m really quite bright

Lionel said he can pen with all four paws

Also with a quill in his big feline jaws

The sexiest scenes in the novel take place at night

*

Interviewer Luanne asked will it be a trilogy

Lionel said no but perhaps a duology

Jessi-Sue and Justin are great together

Just like the post persons in any kind and all weather

Then Li said together it could be an epic septology

*

He said there’s a murder that will need to be solved

But don’t worry this time there’s no butler involved

The killer is found at the end of Book One

But all of the action is far from done

Still- several plot points will be resolved

*

There’ll be a love complication – his name is Hank

He thinks he’s a chance with Jessi – he’s got bank

In the beginning Jessi has eyes for only Juss

And Hank is like Fabio – his hair he’ll not muss

But Jessi will likely go for the guy who’s most lank

*

Both Hank and Justin are sexy beasts

The duo love their favorite meaty feasts

Then along comes Cody to fight for Jessi

It’s when this romantasy gets pretty messy

There are many men who want her – maybe five at leasts.*

*

Lionel says the book’s six hundred pages long

It’s worth every word – readers will say he’s not wrong

In Book Two there will be a love quintangle

Much more fun than a mere triangle

In this tale Juss plays Pac-Man but Hank prefers Kong
